Tracks
On noticing nature.

Tracks in the snow over icy Sugar Creek.
Tracks in the snow reveal our sheep and goats’ path through the paddock as they explore the perimeter of the fence or wander from the shelter of the barn to drink water. Mia’s paw prints decorate the driveway.
Tuesday, when I paused on the covered bridge at Sugar Creek, I saw tracks in the white blanket on the icy waterway. They led away from the bridge in a straight line, then crossed with other tracks, as if one animal had gone out multiple times or several animals had congregated there.
I wondered what they had searched for and imagined the serene scene: wildlife walking or hopping along the creek in the winter moonlight, framed by the covered bridge overhead.
Thanks for Reading!
