To Where the Grass is Greener

On moving.

The animals know when it’s time to move to the next paddock.

They know they’ve clipped all the grass they can. The remaining stubble has browned in the heat.

The next pen is full of clover and Queen Anne’s Lace and various grasses, and those all taste good.

So as soon as I pick up the roll of new netting to lay it out, the flock bolts toward the corner of their current paddock, loudly insisting that I move them immediately.

And when they realize the move isn’t immediate, they all stare me down until I finish setting up the pen and let them in.

This Week on the Farm

August is full of State Fair (we’ll be there for several days over the course of the Fair) and preparing to turn the rams in with the ewes.

It's also time for cleaning the barn, and that will be one of our projects over the next week. We’ll be preparing pens and equipment in a nice layout for winter.

Farm Shop

Our Shetland fleeces sold out quickly! There are still opportunities to work with a Shropshire fleece like Wanda’s. Click on the picture below to see her wool.
