Snowy Path
On the ways we travel.
During this week, this final full week of the year, I reflect on the path I’ve been in 2024. Was it straight or windy? Did it go in circles?
What was the path’s topography? Rugged or smooth? Flat or mountainous?
There are several well-trodden paths through the farm: deer tracks, cow paths, driveways to the creek. This ATV track is one that Mia loves to run alongside. A recent snowfall marked it well, and it was easy to see where I was going.
At one time, this passageway didn’t exist. It had to be created.
We create our own paths, too. It might be difficult, at first, but as we walk along, creating a path becomes easier.
And once that path is created, we can, like Mia, go from simply walking to flying:

And I hope you feel refreshed and rejuvenated for the week ahead with this moment preserved in picture and prose. Consider:
What kind of path will you have in 2025?

This Week on the Farm
Last Sunday, we put up our Christmas tree. Since our own trees aren’t ready to harvest yet, we went down the road to purchase a tree from another local farmer. When we positioned the tree in its stand, Neeps was fascinated by the greenery.
Also last week, we saw some beautiful winter sunsets. On Monday, the horizon glowed yellow. Clouds stretched across the sky, moving quickly eastward.
After chores, I met Dad coming down the driveway with the tractor. While I stood at the end of the gravel taking pictures, he continued to the barn so he could give hay to the cattle.
It's a wonderful time of year to enjoy nature and all that winter has to offer.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and yours! May this week be a joyous one, however you are celebrating.
