Sheep Names
On relations.
What’s in a name?
For sheep, names can tell the shepherd who’s related to whom. When we register sheep, we use various themes, such as flowers or country names, to show the lineage of each ewe or ram.
For example, Gandalf (far right) is the sire of Elrond (on the left) and Bruinen (in the center).
Also in the herd, we’ve had Dahlia and Dandelion, the daughters of Daisy, and Ramona, the daughter of Beatrice (a reference to the book Beezus and Ramona by Beverly Cleary).

This Week on the Farm
It’s hard to believe that December will be here at the end of this week. The cold temperatures are starting to set in. We have plenty of odds and ends to work on, such as finalizing our barn shelf organization project.
We hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving with a feast as delicious as a fresh bale of hay and lots of family and friends gathered around the feeder…er…table.
