Putting Up Hay
On a time-honored task.

In this image that looks vintage, Jeff is loading hay on the hiker, which takes bales to the loft. I am standing on the hay wagon, where I’ve just pushed several bales to the ground.
It was a good week to do hay. The weather was beautiful, and temperatures were cool. Just as we backed the last load of the day into the barn on Tuesday, a storm broke loose, producing the thickest rainfall I’d seen all summer.
There’s a great sense of satisfaction and relief when the barn is full at the end of the day. Hay feeds our animals through the grass-less winter, and it’s insurance to make sure we succeed throughout the year.
Thanks for Reading!
And I hope you feel refreshed and rejuvenated for the week ahead with this moment preserved in picture and prose. Consider:
