Pup Cup
On sweet treats.
On the weekend, we love going to the nearest locally-owned ice cream shop and buying a pup cup for Mia. Once she starts licking the soft serve, she doesn’t come up for air until every last drop is gone.
Now that fall is here, the shop will be closing soon for the season. On our last trip there, I enjoyed their “buy one ice cream scoop, get one scoop free” offer with a couple of new flavors: apple pie and sugar cookie. The dessert hit the spot after working out in the Christmas tree patch.
That’s one cool thing about working in agriculture: after we work in our fields, we can enjoy a sweet treat that came from other farmers’ fields or orchards.
Thanks for Reading!
And I hope you feel refreshed and rejuvenated for the week ahead with this moment preserved in picture and prose. Consider:

This Week on the Farm
Each lambing season, I’ve needed to put up panels to prevent the lambs from escaping underneath the sides of the lean-to of the barn (Shetland lambs are so small it’s easy for them to slip through!).
So yesterday, we worked on putting up some 8-foot boards that will secure the lambing pens.
Now, there will be one less thing to do when preparing for newborns.
While Jeff continued to work around the barn, I put up new netting around the Hillside. The recent rains helped with fall grass growth, and the SGL were happy to move to a new section with that growth.
While finalizing the new paddock and making sure all the netting was connected so that it could be charged, I spotted a white dome amongst the green vegetation.
These fungi crop up in this shady area of the pasture each year, yet they surprise me every time: one day, there’s grass, the next day, there’s fungi!
