Munch Munch
On funny lambs.
Dandelion is the biggest of this year's lamb bunch, born two weeks before the rest. Here, she's the sheep on the far right looking at the camera, ears wide, working out what I'm doing, while those around her concentrate on food.
She's fun to watch. While everyone else is eating, she and the other lambs bounce around, hiding in grass and finding their own space apart from the ewes. The flock is on pasture for the summer, surrounded by electrified netting to protect them from predators and to keep them from wandering o'er hill and dale. I move the netting every three or four days so the sheep can eat new plants.
Dandelion and her fellow lambs follow when I create an opening in the fence for them to bounce into the next batch of foliage. Then, they disappear into the tall grass, the waving stalks the only sign they exist.
Thanks for Reading!
And I hope you feel refreshed and rejuvenated for the week ahead with this moment preserved in picture and prose. Consider:

This Week on the Farm
We need rain. The grass is hanging in there, but it's been two weeks since the last rain event. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, our area is abnormally dry. We had a wet spring, so hopefully, groundwater reserves will kick in to keep us going.
