The Hunt for a Deal
On a day at the annual county auction.
Despite the snow and bitter cold yesterday, hundreds of people (including us!) in various shades of brown, green, and camo hunted for a deal. We examined everything from lawnmowers to chicken coops to hay wagons, all available at the annual county auction.
Inside the community building were long tables of small tools, kitchen implements, furniture, and knick-knacks. Against the wall stood a Sinclair dino. Outside was more stuff than you could shake a stick at: semi trucks, haying equipment, ATVs, cement mixers, dog houses, tires, chop saws, steel posts, small antique tractors…
…and large modern combines.
There were equipment lines…

As the afternoon wore on, the ground became sticky mud. The auction truck’s tires spun. The auctioneer kept chanting and taking bids as the vehicle rocked back and forth to escape.
The best part for us? We won two bids! See what we bought on the scroll.

This Week on the Farm
We’ve expanded our livestock hauling capacity with our purchases of a livestock rack for the back of the truck, which essentially creates a pen for the animals, and a small trailer. With the upcoming chilly, damp week, it’ll be the perfect time to figure out exactly how many animals we’ll haul during the first use of our expanded livestock hauling capacity.😄
