Escapees
On sheep running amok.

“What are ewe looking at?”
Sometimes, you tell the animals what pen they will live in next.
At other times, the animals tell you.
Last week, I was ill, and our Shetland rams spied an opportunity. They slipped under the gate, and even when I put up an additional panel in an attempt to block them from doing it again, they still slipped through in less than five minutes.
Guess that’s what you would call being on the lam.

This Week on the Farm
Last weekend was spent recovering from the Indiana State Fair. We had fun showing our lambs, both in the ring and in the pen as children stopped by to pet the “fluffy sheep.”
One girl asked what a ewe lamb’s name was.
“This is Peri,” I replied.
She instantly cried, “I love Peri! I love pears!”
In the ring, we exhibited our animals in a competitive show.

During the yearling ewe class, Juniper looked outside the ring and said, “Let me go back to the pen and eat my hay!”
And outside the ring, it’s always good to visit with and learn from other sheep breeders.
