Changing Leaves

On autumn colors.

Young tree with red in center and orange on edges of leaf

Driving through the country roads yesterday, we drove through several tunnels of oranges, reds, and yellows, leaves unveiling their true colors as they prepare for the winter.

On Friday, Mia and I went down to the creek during her morning run, and I found the young tree pictured above growing near the creek crossing. I hadn’t realized that even baby trees’ leaves change color. The midribs and veins were highlighted red, while the rest of the leaf turned yellow.

Overhead, orange leaves interspersed with green leaves, not yet turned.

These variations in leaf colors made me think about people at various states in life. We can work with and live around people with different backgrounds, ages, and beliefs. We can share experiences and learn together, living life alongside one another, no matter what stage we’re in.

Leaves don’t mind what stage the leaf next to them is in. They show their true colors, anyway.

And we get to enjoy those true colors, glowing each autumn day.

Thanks for Reading!

And I hope you feel refreshed and rejuvenated for the week ahead with this moment preserved in picture and prose. Consider:

This Week on the Farm

Saturday morning, dark gray storm clouds to the west contrasted with the tree lines shining in Golden Hour.

A newly harvested corn field glowing in the morning sunshine with trees standing out brightly against the oncoming rain clouds.

The rain that resulted from those clouds Saturday afternoon was welcome. We’re in moderate drought right now, and every bit helps.
