2025 Lamb Count: 9
The lambs are getting to know one another as they grow. When I arrive at the barn in the morning, the whole group bounces around the pen, playing tag.
Yesterday, the baby sheep sniffed the new flakes of straw I set around their pen, and then, when I stepped through the gate, they pounced on the flakes and pawed at them. Others chewed on a long straw.

When the ewes finish their breakfast, the lambs sniff at the corn dust left in the trough. Filled water buckets are a wonder, and the barn cats are watched from a distance.
This week, the lambs will feel colder temperatures and experience snowy mixes. Their games of tag and their new straw, where they can burrow cozily next to their mums, will keep the lambs nice and warm.

This Week on the Farm
Olive and Mabel, our crossbred “Shropland” ewes, show their contentment when they are taking care of their lambs, who lie nearby.

The weather last week was lovely. There were gray skies here and there, but on Friday, the morning Golden Hour shone on the sheep and painted a background of textured clouds. The Shropshires, who still have a while to go before lambing, are still living outside, and enjoyed the sunshine.
