In Like a Lamb

On the beginnings of March.

March began with our first ewe lamb of the year, from Oswin. #5 is a little camera shy, but she posed long enough for this portrait. Mom was close by, of course.

Welcome to the world, little ewe!

So does this mean March has come in like a lamb? 😊

Thanks for Reading!

And I hope you feel refreshed and rejuvenated for the week ahead with this moment preserved in picture and prose. Consider:

This Week on the Farm

Wool pelleting is catching shepherds' attention as a way to add value to low-quality wool. Pelleting compresses the wool into small cylinders that could be used as soil amendments for gardens.

Over the weekend, a story I wrote on the Indiana Sheep Association’s (ISA) efforts to bring wool pelleting to the state was published by Ambrook Research. I talked with several shepherds and told the Shetland sweater story that appeared here first. 🙂

Farm Shop

We plan on having Shropshire and Shetland fleeces for sale at the Greencastle Wool Show as part of ISA’s wool sale. Come enjoy a fun weekend April 12-13 at the Putnam County Fairgrounds, which will be filled with sheep, llamas, beautiful fiber art, and more!
