The Art of Snow

On crystals on the gate.

Garlands wrapped around the farm gates yesterday with the first snow of the New Year. The world was quieter than it’d been in some time, the snow stilling the rush of everything as I walked through the Christmas trees.

After feeding the animals, I drove the ATV around the hillside pasture and the tree patch. As I shot photos, I watched the drip-drop of the garland as the air warmed.

When I reached their paddock again, the sheep trotted through the snow to me. I scratched the yearlings under their chins, and when they decided I didn’t have any food, they galloped away to their hay.

Thanks for Reading!

And I hope you feel refreshed and rejuvenated for the week ahead with this moment preserved in picture and prose. Consider:

This Week on the Farm

The Christmas trees looked wonderful in the snow:

The timing of the snowfall was perfect, as we’re just days away from the start of Light in Winter: The Exhibition!

Farm Shop

Light in Winter: The Exhibition starts Tuesday and goes through February 9. When you stop by the Crawfordsville (Ind.) District Public Library and step through the front doors, you’ll see our sheep, llamas, and more right away.

While we won’t be at the exhibition full-time, we’d love to hear about your visit! Tag us @sylvanmore on Facebook and Instagram!
